Your Human Design Profile is made up of the line expression of your Sun and Earth (conscious and subconscious) placements.
There are 12 different Profiles in Human Design, which are made up of combinations of two of the Lines. Your profile speaks to the '“character” you are here to play in this lifetime and very practically illustrates how you learn, what you need to feel safe and stable, and the lessons you will likely learn.
Each number signifies a different line energy and carries unique characteristics and qualities, as does its position. These lines relate back to the lines in the 64 hexagrams of the I’Ching. Essentially, the combination of yin and yang energies within the hexagrams creates a certain nuance or flavour that influences how it a person or situation will be experienced.
The first number in the profile represents the conscious personality aspect - while the second number represents the unconscious design aspect.
The conscious aspect is how the individual perceives themselves and how they present themselves to the outside world.
The unconscious aspect represents the individual’s authentic self, regardless of how they may appear outwardly. It is also related to the bodily experience and what the body needs or is seeking.
Each of the Profile Lines can be viewed as an archetype and we can use this perspective to identify where we might struggle to maintain boundaries, or areas where we maybe need to be more firm with our boundaries.
The Magic of the Hermit:
The Line 2 archetype is known as the Hermit and is associated with unique gifts and insights that and the ability to guide and inspire others. These people are often able to find innovative solutions to problems and come up with creative ideas when given the space and freedom to do so. Even though these individuals have a rich inner life the line 2 is not about isolation or complete withdrawal from the world, but rather about finding the right balance between solitude and social interaction.
Line 2 people are designed to do what comes naturally to them.
At Work:
People with a Line 2 in their profile will have a natural genius that others can recognise before they see it for themselves. They may find they are regularly called out, encouraged, invited or targeted to share and engage with their natural talent. Line 2’s would benefit from a workplace with a culture that encourages a high level of autonomy.
Boundaries:
People with a Line 2 in their profile or dominant in their chart, need to establish firm boundaries around their social output. Line 2's are not designed to always be “on” and their brilliance is more magnetic when they allow time for introspection. When they cross this boundary, they push themselves to keep up an active social life without honouring their innate need for regular retreat and solitude. Balance is key.
